First of all, let’s look at business in very generic terms. In any sales industry, there are 3 ways to grow:

1. Increase the amount of clients you have
2. Increase the amount of money each client spends with you
3. Increase the frequency of their visits/purchases

Sounds simple, right?

Therefore, in hairdressing terms, we should be looking at these methods in terms of the 4 R’s; Retail, Rebooking, Referrals and Revalue (the add-on sales of products and services):

1. Increase the amount of clients you have through rebookings, referrals, and client retention.
2. Increase the amount of money each client spends through retail, rebooking and add-on sales.
3. Increase the frequency of visits/purchases through rebooking and add-on sales of products and services.

So how does a Super Stylist fit in?

Well that’s because the success of every salon, to an extent, depends on their stylists. They are the key to your business and your point of contact with your clients. If you’ve read our blog on hiring a super stylist¬†then you will already know what qualities to look for when taking on a new member of your salon team.

Look for stylists with passion, busy columns with high levels of rebookings, commitment to their job and their clients, a high average client spend and most of all with good communication skills. Having a personal connection with their clients and being able to understand and manage their expectations, is exactly what will keep them coming back again and again.

They should be able to build up a level of trust with clients quickly and easily – if the client trusts their stylist, then retailing, rebooking, referrals and revalues should follow!
