Lash extensions are an extremely popular salon service, and it is no surprise as to why. Your clients can achieve fullness, length, glamour, and sophistication in just one appointment. Whether you’re looking to expand your existing salon services, or you are simply refreshing your knowledge, in this guide, we’ve teamed up with  Salon System to share everything you need to know about the different lash curls, including how to consider the right lash curl shape for your client based on their eye shape and the desired effect.

What are the different types of lash curl?

False lash extensions are available in several curl types, all named after a letter such as ‘C curl lashes’ or ‘D curl lashes’. As you can see from the image below, the ‘type’ of lash i.e D, C, B  refers to the prominence of the curl.

What type of lash curl is the most popular?

The C curl lash is one of the most popular eyelash extension options due to its diversity and ability to work well for both an everyday and nighttime look. Every client will prefer a different lash look, and with so many lashes available, you’ll be able to source their perfect match within your initial consultation.

We recommend showing your client some examples of your work, so they can see how their lash extensions may look on themselves. This is especially important if this is their first appointment.

What is a B curl lash?

B curl lashes provide a subtle uplift and look like natural eyelashes curled using a manual eyelash curler

Ideal for: Clients that want to match the natural curvature they are used to. Avoid using B curl lashes on clients who have down pointed lashes.

What is a D curl lash?

D curl lashes amp up your client’s lashes. D curl lashes bring the drama and really define the eyes.

Ideal for: Nights out or glamorous occasions, thanks to the impact they make. D curl lashes are especially impactful on clients with naturally down-pointing lashes. Avoid using on clients with hooded eyes due to the way the curl could catch on your client’s upper eyelid skin.

Which lash style is best for your client?

1. Classic Lashes

Classic lashes create longer, thicker lashes that look and feel like your own. The technique uses fine lashes that enable the therapist to attach one lash extension per lash.

Treatment time: A complete set can take anything between 1 to 2 hours and a half set 1 hour to create.

2. Russian Lashes

Russian lashes offer beautiful full volume, feathery lashes. The technique uses ultra-fine, lightweight lashes that enable the therapist to attach anywhere between 2-6 lash extensions per lash thereby boosting the volume of each lash.

Treatment time: A full set can take anything between 90 mins to 2 hours.
