1. Wow, you sound like you have a dream job! How did you first get into session work?

I was originally working as a make-up artist when I was asked to do nails on a photo shoot – ever since then it has become my passion! I discovered I really enjoyed it and began to experiment with nail art which I promoted through social media. This led to working on a variety of jobs and with nail brand Orly, who have been supportive of me ever since. I assisted and worked with agency LMC who I am now signed with, and remain grateful for the amazing opportunities and encouragement I have received so far..

 2. You must have worked with quite a few celebrities throughout your career…who has been your favourite to work with?

I have been fortunate to work with some fantastic personalities, one of my favourite celebrities has been Kylie Minogue who is super chic, charming and professional.

3. What advice would you give to someone who wants to gain experience in cover work?

It’s important to assist other nail technicians, not only to gain more knowledge and build on your skill set, but also to understand what is expected of you on that type of job. ¬†Take every opportunity that is given to you, and use your initiative to create opportunities for yourself, you never know where they might lead!

4. What might a typical day be like for you? (If there is such a thing!)

One of the aspects of my job that I love is that no day is ever really the same – my schedule could involve anything from session work shoots for editorial or advertising, to appointments with brands, events or creating designs. ¬†Whatever my day may involve, I always try to update my social media – I’m an avid instagram user! @amistreetsnails

5. Where do you go to look for inspiration?

Anything and anywhere can be inspirational, one of my favourite places to go for ideas would be exhibitions/museums, it could be anything from fashion to music or fine art related, but I find I am always inspired to create designs from cultural visits.

6. What do you think will be the biggest nail trends for AW14?

Nails are sleek for A/W14 Рcolours are nude/blush/pale grey shades (the new neutrals), dark purples/plums, pinks (from pale to deep fuchsia) or metallics.  Nail art will still be prevalent, but is much more minimal this season.  Taking influence from co-ords and graphic prints seen on the catwalk so far this year, designs are geometric Рanything goes from a play on classic french and half moon designs to negative space, marbling and a mix of matte and shine textures.
