How did it feel to win 2013 North Eastern Hairdresser of the Year?

Winning North Eastern Hairdresser of the Year has got to be the most amazing thing I have ever achieved, it’s something that I’ve been striving towards for a long time, and to actually win it, has got to be the highlight of my career so far!

What advice would you give someone just starting out in the trade?

I would definitely have to say practice, practice practice!!! Fail to prepare, prepare to fail!

What salon product could you absolutely not do without?

My favourite product would have to be Clynol Massive Volume Spray; all you need to do is spray it in at the roots to achieve the most amazing volume!

Which styles do you think will be big in 2014?

I still think long hair is going to have a huge impact on 2014, but very grungy with plenty of texture. I think pastels will continue to be huge in the summer, especially with the ombré look.

What is your funniest story from your time in the trade?

Probably one of the funniest stories was when I took nearly 35 minutes on a gents hair cut, scissor over combing, texturising, giving it the most amazing shape, for him to say, “well it’s nice, but I just want a number 2 all over please”‚Ķ. I still laugh at this now!!!
