Our Salon Design Of The Month series is a fantastic source of inspiration if you’re looking to decorate and kit out a new salon business, or simply want to give your salon a makeover. In this month’s edition of Salon Design Of The Month, we speak to Georgia Beattie, who you may know as _browenvy on Instagram. Georgia is the co-owner of the Face of Envy salon and training academy based in Kettering.

Salon Design Of The Month: Face Of Envy

How did your salon begin?

Two friends wanted to expand their business’s & start a training academy together, during the first lockdown we started to look for premises and found our dream salon, Face of Envy.

How did you decide upon the design of your salon?

We wanted a neutral but classy design so we kept colours to a minimum as it’s an old building that has been restored. we had so much character already to work with. Adding small details such as the pampas grass worked perfectly with the exposed brick walls. We had a brief idea of the style we wanted from searching Pinterest and other inspo apps.

Georgia’s beautiful salon features the best selling Lotus Monroe Beauty Bed and is a firm favourite amongst lash techs and beauty therapists in the UK. 🙌   Suitable for all brow & lash treatments, it features an adjustable armrest and leg rest, a reclining back, removable head pillow and back cushion, discreet storage tray, faux leather and extra thick padding for optimum comfort. 😍  Available in white, black & taupe!⁣⁣

What are some of your favourite products and tools to use in your salon?

We have a huge range of products that we love to use in the salon. I will list below some of our most loved products :

How do you stand out from your competitors?

At Face Of Envy, we offer a huge range of treatments, everything you could want or need is under one roof with extremely talented girls. We often get compliments about how beautiful the salon is & feels like it’s something you would find in London. We also thrive in the fact everyone says they immediately feel comfortable with us and they can’t wait to return!

What do you think makes a successful salon?

To have a successful business you need to really love what you do. We are always looking at how we can improve as a whole salon, keeping up to date with training, trying new products, techniques and feedback from clients. Teamwork makes the dream work, we are so fortunate to have extremely talented girls under one roof.

How do you think social media has influenced our industry?

Social media is a great tool to have within our industry, it always you to not only share our works with potential clients, but it also allows us to be shared & seen by big brands when using their products. We also connect with other techs in this industry, this can lead to training and even friendships it’s one big community and we love it! It’s enabled us to be able to show our portfolio so the clients can see all the treatments we offer and the techniques with which we work, most of our clientele have found us or have booked through Instagram.

How do you keep up to date with the latest industry trends?

We are always seeing what the latest trends are, doing further education such as masterclasses & courses to ensure we are up to date with the forever moving industry. With so many new products and techniques coming out it is important that we are using the best products to the best of our ability. We have just started our own training academy so it’s very important to us that our knowledge is up to date.

What advice can you give to others wanting to open a salon?

Keep working hard & anything is possible. Being consistent with social media and word of mouth from clients will really help push your business to the next level. Writing down your goals & doing a mood board really helped keep us focused on the end goal. There are many hidden costs of running a salon such as music licence, sanitary bins, waste companies, boiler services, fire extinguishers, liability insurance & getting good rates on gas & electric as you will be paying higher costs for it being a business with all of these things.

What can we expect from your salon business in 2022 and beyond?

We are focused on growing the training academy, due to covid this has unfortunately not been our main priority but we feel now is the right time to grow this with restrictions easing. We have our first accredited course next month and have already sold out on this which is amazing. We hope to expand to different areas up and down the country doing pop up courses. As for Face Of Envy, we will continue to strive to be the best that we can be.
