How were the furniture pieces selected?
Based on the brief, we offered some recommendations for furniture that we thought would work best. Alexa made a couple of changes and chose colours from the swatches we supplied.
What was the brief?
We arranged a visit to the salon to take measurements, which allowed us to create 2D CAD plans. Alexa then made a few adjustments to the drawing herself.
The brief was for eight styling stations and three wash points in the main salon, with two styling units and one watchpoint in a separate room. The styling units were not to be full height to create a visual of more space.
How long did it take from start to finish?
Approx. 7 weeks.
Did we provide any additional support and guidance for the salon?
This project involved supplying furniture only; Alexa worked with her own builders on the construction and installation.
Q&A with the Willow Fox Hairdressing owner, Alexa!
How did your salon begin?
Since I started my hairdressing career 25 years ago, I have aspired to own my own salon.
After managing two large salons, I felt it was now my time to take the next step and create Willow Fox Hairdressing. I imagined a team of around four stylists, but it quickly grew to my amazing team of 10 before we even opened.
How did you decide upon the design of your salon?
My vision was quite simple. I wanted a tranquil, friendly, but professional environment where clients and staff felt at home. As soon as I saw the REM Cupid wash unit, I knew this was what I wanted, so I based a lot of the other furniture and colours around it. I wanted warm, neutral shades with a modern, aesthetically pleasing visual. The feedback from all clients has been very positive, and they love the feel of the salon.
What are some of your favourite products and tools to use in your salon?
We are a L’oreal salon, and I wouldn’t choose anything else. I have worked with numerous other brands, but nothing compares to Loreal in terms of standards, quality, and values. We have an amazing new system: a scalp infusion treatment that promotes healthy hair growth and overall hair vitality.
How do you stand out from your competitors?
We believe treating our clients is the most important part, and this is what separates us from the rest. We also specialise in hair loss and hair and scalp therapy, which is a massive part of everyday life for most people now.
What do you think makes a successful salon?
“Teamwork makes the dream work.” This is the best quote around. Willow Fox Hairdressing would not be what it is without my incredible team.
Success is about feeling that tingle of excitement about what you do.
How do you keep up to date with the latest industry trends?
Social media is an amazing platform for keeping you up to date with current trends, etc. We also have a lot of friends within our industry and are planning on joining together to have different brainstorming events and learn from each other.
What advice can you give to others wanting to open a salon?
Just go for it. If you wait for the “right time”, it will never come.
What can we expect from your salon business in 2024 and beyond?
We are expanding our services in 2024 and launching them next month. This is very exciting, and I can’t wait to share it. We will continue to supply an outstanding, professional, and number-one service to all our supportive clients.

Contact us and set up an appointment with one of our furniture experts. We’ll discuss your salon design ideas and ensure we fully understand your vision.
If you’re interested in custom furniture, including personalised colours, styles, and embroidery, we offer a professional salon planning service in partnership with REM. We’ll arrange consultations and design planning sessions to give you the best advice and support.
2. Planning & Design
Our designers use the latest software to create detailed layouts and floor plans. This ensures your space is used efficiently, equipment is placed correctly, and everything flows smoothly to enhance your clients’ experience.
- 2D CAD Designs: Get a bird’s-eye view of your future salon! Our 2D blueprints let you fine-tune the layout, ensuring it matches your vision perfectly. Every element, from styling stations to waiting areas, is strategically positioned for maximum impact. These 2D visuals are priced at £150+ VAT but will be credited back on orders over £3000 ex VAT.
- Immersive 3D CAD Designs: Our lifelike 3D visuals bring your design to life, allowing you to explore every angle, texture, and colour choice. This helps you make informed decisions and feel confident before placing your order. Our Salon Design Package, including both 2D and 3D visuals, costs £295+ VAT and will be credited back on orders over £3000 ex VAT.
3. Order & Delivery
Once you’re happy with the CAD designs, our team will assist you in ordering your furniture according to your schedule. Our Lotus Furniture can be delivered in as little as two working days. For REM, Takara Belmont, and Lemi ranges, delivery times vary based on customisation (4 weeks+ depending on options).
Our Salon Design Package is £295+ VAT; this is refunded on orders over £3000 ex VAT.
