The history of Salons Direct starts in 1992 in the living room of husband and wife team Gareth and Valerie Roberts, who launched a mail order company selling professional hair and beauty products. At the time, most hairdressers and beauty salons bought their products through cash and carry outlets, so the idea of ordering via a catalogue was revolutionary in the Salon industry. It was a hectic time, building a successful mail order business from their Merseyside home and bringing up two daughters.

Fast forward to 2003 when their now grown-up daughters Danielle and Gemma joined the company and helped launch Salons Direct’s first “Superstore” on the Wirral in 2003.

Salons Directs first website was launched in 2002 and over the next 15 years expanded to become the core of the business, growing sales so much that the company moved into their own larger, purpose-built 72,000 sq foot premises in 2017 in Bromborough, the Wirral.

Salons Direct is now the largest online supplier to hairdressers, beauty salons and nail salons, offering over 15,000 products from over 250 salon quality brands. It aims to become the UK’s leading and most trusted supplier of hair and beauty products, and is still family run, with Danielle now Managing Director and Gemma Communication and Events Manager.
