The causes and consequences
Harmful metals can get into our water from pipeline erosion, exposing our hair to these harmful metals. And unfortunately for our hair health - most pipes are made from copper materials.
We’re trying to say it’s really up to us to protect our hair as best as possible to maintain the healthiest hair we can. The level of metal in hair can vary, and this will depend on the water quality where you reside, along with the hair porosity of each individual.
Of course, we all need to shower. After every single wash, metal particles can accumulate inside the hair fibre. This can result in excessive metal accumulation, posing no serious health risks. It’s just super bad for our hair.
During a professional colour job, whether you’re creating a balayage or other lightening service, when these metals come into contact with the oxidant you’re using - the increased chance of unexplained breakage can occur, along with unreliable colour results.
If you have had experiences like this, it could very well be because of the unavoidable metals in the water. But lucky for professionals, the new Metal Detox regime is now available to prevent this from happening during future colour treatments.
The game-changing ingredient
So, what’s the secret weapon in the Metal Detox formula?
The answer is Glicoamine.
Glicoamine is the professional hero ingredient inside of the formula, which is a molecule small enough to get into and penetrate the inner hair fibres. This will then successfully act to neutralise and de-active harmful metals that have unavoidably seeped into the hair.
Once inside, Glicoamine will successfully neutralise metal wherever it is located, a breakthrough for colour, balayage, and lightning services.

Directions for use
As we mentioned before, the Metal Detox regime only consists of four simple steps, and it’ll add no extra time to your service. These four steps include:
Step One
Start by neutralising the presence of metal before the colour service with the L’Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Pre-Treatment.
Spray the L’Oréal Professionnel Metol Detox Pre-Treatment on dry hair from the tip all the way up to the root. Apply 8 to 10 pumps on short hair and 15 to 20 pumps on medium to long hair, focusing mainly on the lengths.
It’s worth mentioning that this pre-treatment can be used with other colour and lightening brands.
Step Two
Gently remove the presence of metal after the colour service with the L’Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Shampoo.
Apply the Metal Detox shampoo evenly onto wet hair. Then, lather until the formula transforms into a rich foam, followed by rinsing. Depending on the client, shampoo either once or twice.
The L’Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Shampoo is available in sizes 1500ml and 300ml.
Step Three
Protect the hair fibres from any future metal deposits with the L’Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Masque.
Apply the L’Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Masque evenly onto shampooed and towel-dried hair. Leave on for 15 minutes, and then simply rinse thoroughly. Then continue to dry and style the hair as desired now that the colour treatment is no longer compromised.
The L’Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Masque is available in sizes 500ml and 250ml.
Step Four
