We sat down with Anthony to chat about the inspiration behind his salon, the products he can't live without, advice for aspiring salon owners and what's next for his business.

How did your salon begin?

After 18 years of working in salons, I wanted to create a space that reflected my own approach to hairdressing. Building strong relationships with clients has always been the most rewarding part of my job, so opening my own private studio gave me the opportunity to offer a more personal, relaxed experience where clients can truly switch off and enjoy some time for themselves.

How did you decide upon the design of your salon?

I wanted the studio to feel calm, welcoming and timeless. The design was inspired by natural textures, warm earthy tones and plenty of natural light. As soon as I saw the Lotus Westbury taupe range, I knew I needed them! My aim was to create a space that feels more like a retreat than a traditional salon, somewhere clients can escape the noise of everyday life and feel completely comfortable.

What are some of your favourite products and tools to use in your salon?

"I love using tools and products that deliver great results while making the experience more enjoyable for clients.

Some of my favourites include Kérastase for haircare, as I love the combination of luxury and performance across the range, and Kevin Murphy styling products for their versatility and effortless finish. When it comes to tools, I've always trusted ghd for tongs and Label.m for hairdryers and brushes."

How do you stand out from your competitors?

Rather than trying to stand out, I’ve focused on creating a business that reflects who I am as a hairdresser. I enjoy creating wearable, low-maintenance hair that clients can feel confident with every day, while providing a relaxed environment where they can switch off for a while. My aim is simply to offer great hair, honest advice and a welcoming experience that keeps people coming back.

What do you think makes a successful salon?

For me, a successful salon is built on trust, consistency and authenticity. Beautiful hair is important, but so is making people feel valued and looked after. When clients leave feeling confident and genuinely enjoyed their experience, they’re far more likely to return and recommend you to others.

How do you keep up to date with the latest industry trends?

Education has always been important to me. I regularly attend training courses, follow industry leaders and keep up with emerging trends through social media and online education. I particularly enjoy following hairdressers from different countries, as it’s interesting to see how techniques, trends and client preferences vary around the world. I find it a great source of inspiration and a way to keep learning throughout my career.

What advice can you give to others wanting to open a salon?

Building a loyal clientele is one of the most valuable things you can do before opening your own salon/ studio. Having clients who trust your work gives you confidence and a strong foundation from day one. I’d also encourage people to create a business that reflects their own personality and values. When your space feels authentic to you, it shows in all aspects of your work.

What can we expect from your salon business and in 2026 and beyond?

My focus is on continuing to grow while maintaining the personal experience that clients value. I want to keep refining the studio environment, investing in education and offering the highest standard of service possible. The goal isn’t necessarily to become bigger, but to become better and continue creating a space where clients feel relaxed, confident and well looked after.
