This month, we had the pleasure of chatting with Britanie Grey, the owner of The Corner Clinic & Co. Salon based in Liverpool.
How did your salon begin?
Our journey started 8 years ago when I was fully booked as a lash tech and had a dream to create my own space with a team of amazing, self-employed professionals. Over time, we rebranded and moved to a shop-front location on a busier street, which suited our vision perfectly.
Now, we have 10 talented team members, all self-employed, because I’ve always believed in helping everyone grow individually while building something special together.
How did you decide upon the design of your salon?
Interior design is my passion, and designing the salon was like second nature! Monochrome was the obvious choice—it’s timeless, clean, and gives the space a polished, professional feel.
Creating a beautiful and functional space that the staff and clients love. I’d love to do interior design as another job ( if I had the time).
What are some of your favourite products and tools to use in your salon?
Lash Tools My lash tweezers are hands down my favourite—they’re an extension of my hand at this point, making every lash set perfect and seamless. Skin Boosters Skin boosters are a game-changer in our salon—they give clients that dewy, fresh glow that everyone loves.
How do you stand out from your competitors?
I focus on quickness without compromising quality, and that’s what I’m known for. But most importantly, we’re not here to compete with others; we’re here to uplift everyone. We believe there’s space for everyone to succeed, and that positive mindset keeps us thriving.
What do you think makes a successful salon?
It’s about having a team where everyone is amazing at what they do, creating a one-stop shop for clients. For example, a client might come to me for aesthetics and then go to one of the girls for hair, makeup, or lashes. A successful salon also has to feel welcoming—there’s nothing worse than walking into a place and feeling out of place. Our team is all about creating a warm, friendly environment where everyone feels comfortable.
How do you keep up to date with the latest industry trends?
Social media is a big one for staying in the loop, and I’m always investing in courses to keep my skills sharp and my team inspired.
What advice can you give to others wanting to open a salon?
Just do it! Working with amazing people day in and day out is a blessing and completely different from working alone at home. Even if it doesn’t work out, at least you tried, but trust me—if you believe it will succeed, it will.
What can we expect from your salon business in 2025 and beyond?
Big things are coming! We’re focusing on offering more courses. We’re expanding our courses to different cities and even internationally, bringing our expertise to new audiences far and wide.
We’re also focused on expanding our salon space, adding more rooms, and introducing new, innovative treatments that keep us ahead of the curve.
2025 is all about levelling up, empowering others, and solidifying our place as not just a salon but a hub of beauty, education, and inspiration!
From hosting masterclasses to collaborating with other industry leaders, our goal is continuous growth, offering more value, and elevating the experience for both clients and our team.
