This month, we caught up with the owner of Blend Hair!

How did your salon begin?

My salon was born out of a lifelong dream, after years of passion, creativity and dedication to the hair industry, I finally opened the doors to Blend Hair Salon in April this year.

What was your initial inspiration for starting your salon?

I wanted to create a space we’re people felt welcome and relaxed.

How did you decide upon the design of your salon?

I am obsessed with looking at Pinterest and getting inspiration from other hair salons.

I put Pinterest boards together with my favourite colour theme and worked closely with a graphic designer to help out my vision together. Everything had to be aesthetically pleasing but wanted to keep it practical at the same time.

What are some of your favourite products and tools to use in your salon?

One of our favourite brands in the salon are Milkshake hair care products! We have a lot of colour and hair extension clientele and these are all sulphate & paraben free which is perfect for all of our clientele.

How do you stand out from your competitors?

At Blend Hair Salon, it’s all about the experience. We don’t just do hair, we listen, we collaborate, and we tailor every service to the unique style and vibe of each client.

Our space is welcoming, modern, and designed to make you feel at home the second you walk in. From custom color work to precision cuts, we blend skill with creativity to deliver results that turn heads.

What do you think makes a successful salon?

For me, Customer service plays a massive part in making a successful salon along with skilled, passionate stylists, positive salon culture and strong online presence.

How do you keep up to date with the latest industry trends?

Staying connected through social media / instagram and TikTok are the most popular for me. We also keep up to date with in salon education and hair and beauty events.

How do you keep up to date with the latest industry trends?

My advice would be to take risks and believe in yourself. Success definitely takes time and it isn’t all sunshine and rainbows but it’s 100% worth it all and when you take a step back and look at what you have achieved it is the most rewarding thing.

Can you share a memorable experience that shaped the way you run your salon?

Before opening Blend, I had a client who came in feeling so upset her hair had been damaged at another salon, and she was nervous to even sit in my chair.

I took the time to really listen, explain every step, and make sure she felt in control of the process.

When she looked in the mirror at the end of her appointment, she cried - not just because of her hair, but because she felt like herself again. That moment stuck with me. It reminded me that a salon isn’t just about hair it’s about trust, connection, and helping people feel seen and confident.
