Salon Design of the Month: The Lounge by Envi

Some salon spaces are designed to make an impression, while others are designed around how they make you feel. At The Lounge by Envi, the two go hand in hand.

Bright, clean and calming, The Lounge has been thoughtfully created to offer their clients a relaxing salon experience, with privacy playing an especially important role. From the fresh, contemporary main space to the warm chocolate tones of the private hair wash room, every detail has been considered with comfort and tranquillity in mind.

This month, we’re stepping inside The Lounge by Envi to discover the story behind the salon, its approach to hair loss and hair reconstruction, the products its founder couldn’t be without and what’s next for the business.

About The Lounge by Envi...

The story behind The Lounge began long before its doors officially opened in June 2026.

Its founder opened her main salon back in 2011 and, as the business developed, recognised the need for a space that could offer greater privacy, particularly for clients experiencing hair loss.

That vision became The Lounge: a calming, welcoming salon where clients can enjoy expert hair services in a more private and relaxing environment.

Keep on reading to take a closer look…

How did your salon begin?

My main salon started back in 2011. As we grew and eventually outgrew the space, I knew I wanted somewhere that could offer more privacy, particularly for our hair loss clients.

That’s when the idea for The Lounge was born, and we officially opened in June 2026.

Creating this new space has allowed us to give clients a more private and personal salon experience while continuing to grow the services we can offer.

How did you decide upon the design of your salon?

I wanted to create a clean, bright space that instantly brings a sense of calm to our clients.

One of the most important parts of the design is our private hair wash room. We wanted this area to offer complete tranquillity and relaxation, so we chose a warm chocolate brown colour palette to give it a cosy, calming feel.

The overall salon is clean and fresh, but that warmer private space creates a lovely contrast and gives clients somewhere they can really switch off.

What are some of your favourite products and tools to use in your salon?

My ultimate favourite tool has to be the ghd Soft Curl Tong. My kit simply wouldn’t be complete without it!

When it comes to products, I’m a huge fan of the Redken All Soft range. As an extension specialist, I find it works beautifully on hair extensions and really helps bring them back to life thanks to its deeply nourishing and conditioning formulas.

How do you stand out from your competitors?

I actually wouldn’t say we have competitors. I adore our hair community and love sharing hints and tips with other local salons. I’ve been very lucky over the years to build and maintain amazing relationships with salons around us.

What does make us a little different, however, is our work in hair reconstruction. We’re one of the only salons in the Fife area offering this type of specialist service, which naturally helps us stand out.

For us, it isn’t about competing with other salons. It’s about offering something valuable to our clients while supporting and being part of the wider hairdressing community.

What do you think makes a successful salon?

For me, it’s all about teamwork and a commitment to supporting one another.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without my team. They truly are my second family, and having that support within the salon makes such a difference.

When everyone works together, supports each other and shares the same commitment to the business and its clients, it creates an environment where everyone can thrive.

How do you keep up to date with the latest industry trends?

I’m definitely a social media doom-scroller!

I’m always searching for and following stylists who inspire me and encourage me to keep improving. Social media is such a useful way of seeing the latest looks, techniques and trends emerging across the industry.

There’s always something new to learn, and seeing what other talented stylists are creating keeps me inspired.

What advice can you give to others wanting to open a salon?

If you have enough passion behind you, go for it.

Start small and work your way up, and don’t be afraid to share or acknowledge your mistakes. Ultimately, those mistakes are what help you become better.

I don’t believe in regretting things. Instead, use every experience as a lesson and allow it to help you grow.

What can we expect from your salon business in 2026 and beyond?

There are lots of exciting things ahead!

One of the biggest is the launch of my own hair brand, House of EB, which I’m incredibly excited about.

Alongside that, I want to continue developing the salon and working towards my own personal goals within the hair loss industry. There’s still so much I want to achieve, and I’m looking forward to seeing where the next chapter takes us.
